Adult & MAHA Activities Suspended through Dec. 15th

Vermont Governor Phil Scott issued a new executive order this morning (Nov. 13th 2020) that prohibits social or recreational gatherings involving more than a single household. The order also suspends any youth or adult recreational sports leagues or practices and public skating sessions. The order is currently set to be effective through Dec. 15th 2020.

The full text of the order is available for review at https://governor.vermont.gov/sites/scott/files/documents/ADDENDUM%208%20TO%20AMENDED%20AND%20RESTATED%20EXECUTIVE%20ORDER%2001-20.pdf

The key passages in Governor Scott’s order that impact Memorial Sports Center activities are as follows:

Paragraph a: Multiple Household Social Gatherings Suspended. Attendance at all public and private social, recreational and entertainment gatherings, indoor and outdoor, including large social gatherings incidental to ceremonies, holiday gatherings, parties and celebrations, shall be limited to participation with only members of a single household. For the sake of clarity, nothing in this Order prohibits the gathering of members living in the same residence. Individuals who live alone may gather with members of their immediate family residing in a different household.

Paragraph g: All recreational sports programs, including organized
and/or informal recreational youth and adult league sports, practices, games and tournaments, are hereby suspended. This suspension shall not apply to school-sponsored sports activities which are subject to applicable Agency of Education Guidance.

Friends of Middlebury Hockey and Memorial Sports Center management are working together to determine the full implications of this executive order on our facility and operations for the 2020-21 season. More information will be posted to www.memorialsportscenter.org as the situation develops.
