Middlebury is celebrating the life of Allan Duclos, who passed away on Saturday, August 26th. Allan was a leader in our community, both as a respected professional and as a long-time champion of youth and community hockey. As vice-president of Friends of Middlebury Hockey, Allan stayed calmly focused on providing for families in Middlebury and was always generous with his wisdom and friendship. On the ice, Allan’s joy for the game helped to make the Monday Knights a family of friends that will long remember him. – Michael McAuliffe

Allan was always there to support the hockey community, whether it was working at the Memorial Sports Center, playing with the Monday Knights and the Thursday morning crew, or working in the Zamboni room at the college. Most importantly, though, Allan was a good friend. Generous to a fault, he could usually be found helping out a friend or family member. He also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking around in the locker room and on the bench.  We’ll miss his chuckle out on the ice. – Liza Sacheli

Allan’s generosity and talent will live also with us forever in a material way at the Memorial Sports Center. The cabinetry for the ticket taking booths, concession island, cash register stand, and locker room entrance island as well as the massive rental skate storage cabinets were all expertly crafted by Allan. We will think of him and his warm smile each time see those items. – Rick Marshall

Allan Duclos,
Life is full of surprises, such as the sudden loss of a friend.
Allan was not only a friend to most of us but a best friend to some, a father, a brother, a son, and a mentor.
Allan exuded passion, passion that was expressed through his love for family, his job, his amazing woodworking skills, his community involvement, his hobbies (motorcycles, hockey and fishing just to name a few) and of course his friends.
We will miss you my friend, but we will never forget you!
A Forever Friend…Indeed!
– Eric Myers
